Financial Modeling Made Easy

If you are serious about your project, you would invest in a structured financial model for your project.

I’m a passionate financial modeler, and I’m proud to have been part of the appraisal team on a number of mega infrastructure projects. These have included the Henri Konan Bedie Bridge in Abidjan, the Rwanda Peat Project, and the Singrobo Hydro Project in Cote d’Ivoire, among many others. I am the author of the “Financial Modelling Detective” book designed to help you review someone else’s financial models.

I have always been interested in understanding human nature but I wanted to look at it from a scientific perspective. That is why I decided to study economics. I was so excited when I learned in economics 101 that an ideal consumer avatar and typical producer avatar could represent a whole market and that there’s a formula that models market equilibrium. Later in 2008, when I was finishing my Ph.D. coursework, with the financial crisis, I experienced firsthand how markets can fail.

Throughout my higher education, I was also a member of the appraisal and training team of John Deutsch International of Queen’s University, led by Professor Glenn Jenkins. He taught me that.

“Development is nothing but a series of good projects to be implemented. Policies that stop bad projects and prevent good projects from being destroyed..”

At that time, I knew that you couldn’t formularize humans but could categorize human choices and decision-making strategies. Hence I realized that investment appraisal would be my field. I traveled the globe with Professor Jenkins, delivering courses in Canada, Africa, and Asia. We held courses for the African Development Bank (AfDB), USAID, Southern African Development Community (SADC), and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). You can read this piece for more on why I decided to become a financial modeler.

In 2010, Professor Jenkins appointed me to his consulting team at the African Development Bank. For almost four years, I had the privilege to witness and contribute to the team of experts driving key infrastructure projects in Africa. My work involved analysis of AfDB private sector investment projects. Throughout my time at the AfDB, I also delivered several training courses to the AfDB staff.

As part of the Neo Themis team, I have since been working on investment appraisal of African infrastructure projects.

I aim to make financial modeling easy and fun for everyone. Whether you’re thinking of starting your own small business or seeking a permit to build a power plant, my aim is to make it easy for you to conduct an initial analysis of your business. I’m also committed to helping you make strategic decisions based on a solid business model that can assist you throughout your project appraisal process.

I appreciate your interest, and I hope we’ll connect in person or virtually soon.

Stay $locked$! and in the meantime, happy modeling!
